Paul Adams

August 2004 - Present

As the 3rd consecutive President of the organization, Paul R. Adams is responsible for the leadership, administration, and direction of the Lorain County Young Democrats. His leadership has allowed the LCYD to be considered one of the best organized county young democratic chapters in the state. He previously served as the Vice President under President Chase Ritenauer and has served as the chair of the Finance Committee. Serving since August of 2004 he is the organization’s longest serving president and currently the second longest serving young democrat president in Northeast Ohio. He is also an active member in the Democratic Party and in his home community, South Lorain.

Paul began his political career at 22 when he opposed Lorain City Councilman Eddie Edwards in the 2003 primary election. In that race Paul received nearly 45% of the vote against an entrenched incumbent and while he was unsuccessful he was able to win a majority of votes in the South Lorain community. The following year Paul ran in one of a handful of opposed races for Precinct Committeeman. In that race he handily defeated a two term incumbent with over 70% of the vote. Following his election as committeeman he was elected by the Lorain City Democratic Central Committee to serve as the Treasurer of the Lorain City Democratic Party. He now serves on various committees within the city and county Democratic Parties.

Paul is also involved outside the political realm. In 2005 he was appointed to serve as a board member of the South Lorain Community Development Corporation. He also has served as a member of the local Black River Historical Society since 2001.

Paul is a 1999 graduate of Clearview High School, holds and Associate of Arts Degree, and has graduated from the Ohio State University. Paul is a life long resident of South Lorain.
